Grammar Tutor

This is actually a very nifty little Web site. I was skeptical at first, but once I began browsing, I realised how cool it is. This site is an online proofreading/ editing site. For those of us who will probably be writing for the rest of our lives, this is awesome, but it would work really nicely for students with major papers that need edited. The company is based out of Australia and charges kind of a lot to actually write a paper for someone, but none of us should care about that anyway. :) However, to proofread they charge $0.037/word. Which, for a small paper wouldn't be that bad. There are also links to a grammar book. It teaches about commas, apostrophes, complex/simple sentences and much more! I think this is an awesome site, what do you think?

I think that the website sounds really neat, however I didn't see a link? Unless I just missed it? It would be nice to be able to proofread the paper through the internet however, I don't think that I would want to pay someone else to do it when I could probably find someone to do it for free. haha I would like to be able to view this website and see what it is all about.

haha, that's really cool. On the other hand, I have to agree with Lindsay. I can get one of my friends to proof read my paper, or one of my teachers, I can even e-mail it to my mom. People who know my major, and know what I write about on the constant can proof read my paper for free, so I don't know if I would utilize the website.

I didn't see a like for this website but it sounds interesting. People are usually too lazy to do things the free way and take the easy way out to pay someone else to do something. As long as the website is really proofreading or editing the paper I don't see whats wrong with it. I personally wouldn't use it because I know I can find someone to do it for free.

I think that is a cool website! However I think that it is sad that we must pay someone to to proofread something over the internet. I also think that it would be easier to have a friend do it for free. Also what if there are errors in the program and it messes up your paper???

It sounds neat and may be useful to others people, but I think that if people use it too much then they will be wasting their money and they will not be learning to edit their own papers. Granted not every one is an English major, but that doesn't mean that they should rely on outside help for their papers. I believe the best way to edit you paper is through minimalist tutoring like the writing center. I believe that people should learn through practice. This website may be helpful at times, but it doesn't teach the person writing the paper anything.

The website was alright but at the said time it was kind of interesting. Getting people to proof read your work before turning is a good way to find little mistakes.

I liked this website. but i don't think that it is necessary to pay someone to proofread your paper.

Heh, I also agree a link or the website name might help. The idea isn't bad, but I would prefer editing/proofreading services provided by the university. SIUC doesn't have editing/proofreading services in their writing center, but some Universities do. I've attended classes at other universities where the writing center also offers free editing services which would be nice.

Link? The website sounds like it would be a good idea if you did not have anyone around who could proofread your papers. However, I think I would just go to our writing center for free instead of paying to have a person I did not know check my paper.

Sounds like a good idea! I think can be useful if a student has no other person to proof read his/her paper. However, there are many free sources for students to use. An example would be the writing center.

This is a great idea. Proofreading is probably the hardest part of writing for me. I always try to find someone else to read my papers for me. I probably won't use this site for small papers but I would for large and very important papers. A very good idea.

Where is the link for this website? Personally, I would be weary about using a website to proofread a paper. I think it might make these students more dependent on these websites then learning to proofread for themselves. Furthermore, I believe it is better to proofread with someone in person than over the internet. Also...I would not pay to have my paper proofread!

Im with the rest of the class, "Where is the link to visit the website?". Since the link was not posted I was not able to visit this website. However, from the information provided it does sound like a very helpful website for teachers as well as students to visit. Also, I do not entirely agree with paying for the proofreading. This is something which can be done for free via colleages and/or friends.

I'll agree with the notion that a friend could proofread the paper for me. However, this does seem like a useful site for the people who would need it.

i think its a pretty convenient idea to have the website proofread my paper. If I have to turn a paper in right before class, I dont have time for a friend to proofread it. I think this sounds pretty fast and convenient. Consider the site hookmarked.
