I was watching the news and saw a piece on this website and thought we should all try it out in class!!!! The goal of the website is to give you 4 clues to a word and when you guess the word right the website donates grains of rice to a third world country. If you get 4 words right then 1 person gets enough rice to live on for 1 day!!! Imagine if everyone in the United States answered one word a day?????

That was pretty interesting. I wonder if they really donate rice to the countries....
they do!! In the program they went to the countries they deliver the rice to. It was extremely interesting. Plus it is run off the UN and I do not think they would allow them not to give out the rice.
I DONATED 500 grains of rice my highest vocab level was 29!!! What a neat website... I learned words I have never heard of like speramciti-- I think I spelled it right it mean whale sperm oil....
I thought this article was really interesting. I am going to try this and see how high of a score I can get.

This is a fascinating website!! What a great cause! This could be used in the classroom to show how grammar can serve other purposes as well!
My highest level was a 29 and I donated 2000 grains of rice. I liked the website and will recommend it to other people.

I like this, I feel like I could waste a lot of time playing this vocab game :) at least it's for a good cause!
This website isn't bad. It gets old pretty fast though. I can only spend so much time clicking on words over and over and over again. If they actualy donate what they say they donate atleast some people will benefit from the few people who will frequent the site.
This was fun and a good way to test my knowledge. I can only hope that they are donating the rice like they promise. I guess I will just have to take their word for it. If it is true then wear do they get all the money and rice to carry out this program? Anyways, I enjoyed this thread and I hope I have helped someone in the process. I know it has helped me brush up on my vocab.
This was an interesting exercise. I t made me use prefixes and suffixes to gather the meaning of some words. However, is the game saying that if you are not vocabulary smart that you can not donate rice to a country in need.
This is a really cool idea. I always like to see an individual start something to help others.
